April, 2021 Peoria, Illinois. The PAAR CARES Foundation has joined Phoenix Community Development Services, as well as other community partners, in assisting with the expansion of the Sow to Grow Community Garden. The expansion will include the addition of a greenhouse, permanent benches and tables to create an outdoor classroom, new fruit trees and bushes, and additional raised beds for vegetables, flowers and herbs.
In addition to the $4,500 contribution, PAAR CARES is looking forward to being an integral part of the construction of the garden which is projected to begin spring 2021.
The Sow to Grow Garden was established in the spring of 2019 with goals of improving access to healthy and fresh food, in the heart of one Peoria’s food deserts and providing ongoing education needed to make healthy food choices for life.
